My name is Dr. Skarky.
As a psychiatrist, I offer a range of services to treat various psychiatric disorders. My approach includes both medication management and psychotherapy, specifically utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic techniques. I am experienced in addressing conditions such as Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety, PTSD, OCD, ADHD, as well as substance abuse and dependence disorders.
About Me.
A psychiatrist with deep roots in Oklahoma, I graduated from Bishop McGuinness high school and Cum Laude in Pre-Med and Exercise Physiology from Wake Forest University in 1994. Completing my medical education at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and psychiatric residency program, I established a solo private practice in 2007, providing medication management as well as psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy outside the traditional insurance model.
By getting to know my patients on a deeper level and guiding them through a treatment path of their choice, I aim to effect lasting change in their lives. Recognizing a growing need for men's mental health treatment, I have limited my practice to teenage and older males since 2023, collaborating with the other providers at Prairie Gardens Medical for comprehensive care.
During the initial evaluation, I address various areas that affect mental health, including nutrition, exercise, restorative sleep, interpersonal communication skills, and self-awareness and acceptance. I believe that a holistic approach to mental health can lead to a more full, rich, and rewarding life.
